Skating Club hosts Open House Sunday, Sept. 17
Mount Washington Valley Skating Club will host an Open House from 4:30-6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 17 at the Ham Arena, 87 West Main Street in Conway, NH. Admission, skate rentals and mini-lessons and prizes will be free of charge this day, courtesy of the Ham Arena and Mount Washington Skating Club. The Skating Club will also provide afternoon refreshments for those in attendance.
This is a great opportunity for any child or adult wishing to come and skate whether they are a beginner or a more advanced level skater, said Michael Sandahl, president of Mount Washington Skating Club. “Those present can take time to enjoy some free skate time as well as meet some of the coaches who offer skating lessons in learn to skate, basic level skating, learn to skate for hockey and freestyle figure skating. Attendees will also be able to gather information about skating competition, exhibition, volunteer and leadership opportunities.”
Club members will be taking registrations for fall and winter classes during the Open House. Online registration for classes is also available at mwvsc.coursestorm.com. Fall classes will be held on Sunday and Tuesday afternoons beginning September 19, and include the opportunity for students to participate in the Holiday on Ice Show on December 2.
Mount Washington Valley Skating Club is a member club of the United States Figure Skating Association (USFSA) organized to provide skating instruction and to promote participation in the sport of skating. Skating is a skill that lasts a lifetime. In addition to getting great exercise and developing camaraderie with others in the program, USFSA reports that students in its programs develop self-confidence, self-discipline and self-reliance through mastery of skating skills.
